Review of the Hampton Bay Windward IV Ceiling Fan
The Windward IV Fan has over 1057 customer reviews, one of the more popular ceiling fans in the Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan range. A total of 4.4 stars out of 5 stars is what we give this ceiling fan. A good 84% of customers said they would recommend this fan to others.
It seems the biggest let down for this fan is the Ease of Installation. It is just a little bit tricky to install and especially if you are not the handyman type or DIYer.
This particular model we purchased to replace an earlier model of the Hampton Bay Windward 52 in. ceiling fan. Over many years, we have had the fortune of installing two dozens of different ceiling fans.
We have to say that placement of the remote control receiver in the fan housing near the ceiling is absolutely crazy, requiring all sorts of positions and a great deal of effort to get the fan wires out of your way so you can get the actual receiver in the right place. I’m sure there has to be a much better way to do this.
We now have two of the Windward IV fans in the same living room so when one failed it was essential to replace it with one that was similar.
Despite the installation problems, the good news is that the new remote control that comes with the fan is so much cleaner and a lot smaller than the older model. In addition, the light kit uses two bulbs instead of the difficult to find florescent 9″ bulb in the older model.
So all in all, once it is assembled and installed it’s a real dream. The fan is very very quiet and it does move a good amount of air, so we save a lot of energy by keeping the ceiling fan on low. The new blade design seems to be working well for Hampton Bay.
This is a modern-looking fan at a very reasonable price.
The fan is available in the four colours below. With such a variety of colours it means that you can match most decor colour schemes. Our preference is for the brushed nickel.
Pros: Very Functional, Looks Super Great, Nice Modern Design, Very Stylish
