We found the Harbor Breeze Lansing ceiling fan ideal for cooling small to medium-sized rooms, upto 100 square feet. It is nicely priced with some very good features that you would find in more expensive models. We will discuss some of these features along with where to buy the ceiling fan and what you might expect to pay, instructions on assembly and where you might find replacement parts, how to get a copy of the manual, and our overall review. But first, let us take a look at the price and where you can buy this model.
The Harbor Breeze Lansing 42 inch ceiling fan retails for $79.99 at Walmart but can be bought cheaper on eBay for $63.99 depending on availability. The finish available is brushed nickel or bronze finish with the options of brown blades or reversible sable/honey blades. The three speed reversible motor can generate an airflow of 3,150 CFM, making it suitable for small to medium spaces.
At the time of writing Lowes and Amazon, we’re no longer selling this particular ceiling fan, with no apparent reason given, so Walmart and eBay are your best options for purchasing this item.
We will now take a look at some of the features of the Lansing Ceiling Fan.
Features and Specifications of the Harbor Breeze Lansing Ceiling Fan
The Harbor Breeze Lansing ceiling fan can be bought with a brown (sienna/russet finish) blade finish and bronze housing color or a reversible sable/honey blade finish with a brushed nickel housing color. The latter is more appealing as it can be matched easily to your home decor. Illumination is via a 3 arm light kit using Alabaster glass shades making it ideal as an attractive room piece.
The Lansing 42 inch ceiling fan is capable of an angle mount for those slanted ceilings and can be mounted with or without the supplied 4 inch length downrod, depending on the ceiling height and angle.
The light bulb base type is a Candelabra base and supports an Incandescent light bulb.
The ceiling fan is dry-rated and should be used indoors being suitable for living rooms, kitchens, and bedrooms in a residential setting.
No remote control is provided but it can be easily adapted to accommodate a remote, if you prefer, for your convenience.
We really like the use of the pull chains in this model for operating the fan motor and for turning the light on and off.
Harbor Breeze Lansing Ceiling Fan Review
The Harbor Breeze Lansing Ceiling Fan received an overall review rating of 4.4 stars out of 5 stars from 185 buying customers and 89% were happy to recommend this item. The majority, 86% of the 185 reviews, gave it either a 5 star or 4 star rating with only 7% giving it a 2 star or 1 star rating.
The biggest problem with this ceiling fan is the light kit. The fan works great but of those 7% that were not satisfied the problem seemed to be the light kit blowing or just not working. This could pose a potential fire risk and may have been the reason why Lowes no longer sells this model of ceiling fan.
Beware of potential buzzing, light bulb failure, and smoke or smoke smell if your unit is one of the few that has a faulty light kit.
The blades are not natural wood, but rather a paper coating with a wood design, which is not a problem, however, you might want to check the blades before taking the ceiling fan home to ensure the paper coating is not peeling off.
The good news is that most found the fan to be easy to install, attractive, and worth the price. Most had no issues with the fan not working or the light kit blowing bulbs.
Overall we would probably not recommend this ceiling fan due to the few electrical problems that have been experienced and likely the reason why Lowes no longer sells this ceiling fan.
