Question: Both the remote and the receiver has just died and stopped working completely on my Covington CVT ceiling fan.
I went into the local Home Depot store where I live and the kind sales assistant gave me a suitable replacement for the faulty part.
The only problem I am having with the replacement is that it doesn’t look ‘remotely’ like the original one and I cannot change from reverse to forward.
Where can I purchase a new remote and receiver? I am not too sure which is not working so I am looking at replacing both.

Answer: Press the remote control buttons and if you see the LED on the remote light up, that indicates that your remote unit is working, that would narrow down the problem to the receiver. If you have replaced your remote control batteries with new ones but the light (usually red or green) is not appearing to light up, that would indicate that it is your remote.
The universal remote/receiver replacement that you received will not work on a ceiling fan that has a reverse function option.
You, however, can return that to your local store, and you can buy the part that you will need directly from the local parts department, King of Fans. (Please also note, if you still have the proof of purchase and your Covington Ceiling Fan was purchased within a year, then your local store will send you the required parts free of charge.)
Give them a call, advise them of the current issues that you are having, they will then confirm the part that you will be needing, place the order, then ship it to you, and give plenty of technical advice if you will be needing help to install or set it up. King of Fans: 800-330-3267.
